Summer has quickly come to a close and we are seeing an uptick in student activity throughout Lubbock. It is a welcome change! If you’re like many college students in the Lubbock area, you relied on a summer storage unit to keep your things safe for a few months. Now you’re ready to transition out of storage and into your new place. So what should you do first?

 

Consider your new living space

You may have realized by now that space is limited in your dorm or apartment. It’s easiest to unpack what you will use the most, like your TV and kitchen utensils. The box of old pictures or keepsakes from home might be better off in a climate-controlled storage unit. In this case, downsizing your storage rental is probably the best option for the rest of the school year.

 

Check your schedule

Do you plan on studying abroad or taking an out-of-state internship this year? Holding onto your storage unit is a smart idea for the things you own. You’ll be glad your personal items are protected and secured while you are fulfilling other commitments. 

 

Know your rental terms

Check your rental agreement for move-out procedures. We make it easy on renters so you can move out just as easily as you moved in. If you move out of your space on or before your payment due date and notify our office of your departure, then no further payments will be due! It’s really that easy!

 

Ask for help!

Moving out might seem like too big of a chore to do it alone. Ask the property manager if you need to borrow a dolly. Maybe you need to resize your storage unit? Customer service is important to an easy transition in or out of a storage unit. It should be easy to find an onsite representative to get you squared away.
